How long have you done CrossFit and what was your reason for joining?
I have been doing CrossFit for 2 years and 8 months. I am no stranger to working out! I have been doing some sort of exercise since the ripe old age of 18. I had joined several gyms, walked all over Albany, Biked all over Albany and did Zumba for 3 years before joining CrossFit. I heard several people talking about this great new workout and how challenging it was. At first I thought that there was no way in hell I would ever be able to put my aging body through those kinds of workouts, but boy was this girl wrong!! I am so thankful that my good friend Melissa Robinson asked me to go to a couple of classes with her, because if she hadn't I probably never would have gone. Now I'm hooked and there is no going backwards, only forward to bigger and better challenges.
What’s your favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite post workout food?
I love anything to do with legs!!! So back squat, front squat and dead lift are my absolute favorite workouts. I also really enjoyed "Hildalgo" that we did on the 4th of July! My favorite post workout food has to be oatmeal with cinnamon and craisins on top with a cup of coffee.
What’s your least favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite cheat meal?
My least favorite lift has to be the Overhead squats. I know I said I like squats, but this lift has been a challenge for me since I started. I have worked my way up from a 15 lb bar up to 63 lbs just the other day. I am getting better and better each time, but I still have issues with it. My favorite cheat meal is fried chicken with mashed potatoes, home made chicken gravy and home made rolls. If your going to carb up...do it right and don't waste it on a couple pieces of pizza and beer!
What is your next goal? i.e. doubles, pull ups, weight loss, body fat%, come more etc.
I have most of the movements down, but I still need to work on my muscle ups and hand stand push ups! My next goal is to compete in a CrossFit competition and to also put on more muscle and get back up on stage and do figure. Lets face it, you only live once so why not put yourself out there, step outside that comfort zone and do something in life that you can be proud of. Challenge yourself and set goals. I am glad I stepped outside of my box and into the CrossFit Power Valley box!
