Doug has always been someone I’ve worked close with, I started fundamentals with him and hoped he’d stick with it. When Doug first started….Wait let me just say, I can guarantee as he is reading this his eyes are rolling (ha-ha) Most of you have heard me say this several times- When Doug first started his lunge was holding onto the rig for full support and the only squatting he did was “as needed”. Now I can say Doug is back squatting with a fully loaded barbell and lunges with dumbbells in each arm! He has come so far in his journey and is such a perfect example of what persistence and determination can get you.
Later on I was introduced to his beautiful wife Jenni, who I can say is one of the most genuine people I know, and if she doesn’t like something she will tell you. I always look forward to her hugs (she gives the BEST hugs) and smile. Jenni loves to run and jump rope (wink wink) and I don’t even hear a peep from her when it’s time to do them. I’m looking forward to continuing watching their growth and I’m so lucky to have all of them in my life!

We both started with a desire to try to get into better physical condition and lose weight. We were tired of being out of shape and winded doing normal stuff. We needed to be better examples to the kids about fitness and healthy eating.
What’s your favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite post workout food?
Doug – Back squat is my favorite lift. Deadlift is a close 2nd. My normal post work out food is sweet potatoes, meat, eggs.
Jeni – Back squat is my favorite. Breakfast hash, with sweet potatoes, vegies, egg, meat.
What’s your least favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite cheat meal?
Doug – My least favorite lift would be the overhead squat, although I am improving, I still suck at it. With my new view of food being fuel and not a treat, and sticking to the Paleo diet, I don’t have a cheat meal. I will make Paleo treats or substitutes for cheat items.
Jeni – Least favorite lift is the snatch. Favorite cheat meal is a sandwich. (BREAD!!!)
What is your next goal? i.e. doubles, pull ups, weight loss, body fat%, come more etc.
Doug- I would like to cut my mile time by a minute and maintain my weight loss. I guess it would be nice to do doubles, pull ups and other RX crossfit shit. Maybe in the years to come.
Jeni- I would like to be able to do more doubles and continue to lose some weight.
