Our next two featured members are what Andrew likes to say, “The Smitty Twins”. For some reason it’s a little emotional for me to write about them. Partiality because Andrew absolutely adored them, coached most classes they’ve attended, and soon they will be off to college. Those of you who don’t know they’ve been members back when WODs were a huge surprise until you walked in the door. I remember the first fundamentals session I had with the whole family and how intimated I was of them all however, you were both so sweet and coachable. It’s only become more recent where I’ve learned more about the girls, and can finally say without a doubt, I know the difference, and it’s “obvious”.
Brianna will be the first one to leave on Wednesday where she will attend college in Arizona. We are super sad you won’t be at the box every week, but we are also very excited for you in this next stage in life. You are a beautiful, strong young lady with an admirable work ethic that l know will continue. Continue to work on your goals and celebrate your success.
Julia is attending the University of Oregon, so I’m sure we will see her more when she can make it back home. Julia is no surprise a great athlete and also has become so much stronger. I love how eager she is to try new things and get stronger at new movements. Soon you’ll be able to link those butterfly pull-ups, keep working hard!
When you see the girls at the box, congratulate them on their next journey and don’t forget to give mom and dad (Dan and Michele) a hug, as these are the last to leave the nest.
Girls keep your faith and trust in God, hold on to his promises even when times get hard, and always know your family at CFPV will be here when you get back. I hope our kids will grow up to be as kind, smart, caring and respectable as both of you. We love you lots!
How long have you done CrossFit and what was your reason for joining?
I've been apart of Crossfit for the last 3 years. I started because my whole family started. It was completely out of my comfort zone to lift weights and I was intimidated because all I had ever done before crossfit was running a few miles. But I'd say my reason for going was to finally gain strength and to look and feel good.
What’s your favorite workout and favorite post workout food? My favorite lift is probably back squatting, but ever since I've gotten my doubles, any workout with them in it becomes a favorite. After a workout I'm always in search of protein, so my typical post workout is a mix of egg whites and spinach 😍
What’s your least favorite workout and favorite cheat meal? Ugh my least favorite movement has to be pull-ups, only because its what I'm weakest at. I have a lot of favorite cheat meals, my favorite has to be and type of pizza from Pizzamore and of course a few garlic balls to go with it.
What is your next goal? Toe to Bar is the next goal!! I know I'm strong enough to do it, just gotta figure out the rhythm!
How long have you done CrossFit and what was your reason for joining? I joined crossfit about three years ago because my whole family decided to try it out and ended up loving learning to do olympic lifts I had never done before and getting stronger than I ever thought I could be.
What’s your favorite workout and favorite post workout food? My favorite movement is definitely running because it comes most easily to me but I also love deadlift. My favorite post workout meal is egg whites mixed with spinach and peppers.
What’s your least favorite workout and favorite cheat meal? My least favorite movement is wall balls and my favorite cheat meal is an Oreo shake from hasty freeze.
What is your next goal? My next goal is to better my kipping pull-ups and eventually master butterfly pull-ups.
