How long have you doing CrossFit and what was your reason for joining?
I started CrossFit in January of 2012 in Boise, Idaho. My husband had been trying to get me to join for months but I was extremely resistant. I thought the gym would be full of “meat-head body builders” and that I wouldn’t fit in. After my first class, I realized I was dead wrong. Instead, the gym was comprised of women and men from all ages and all walks of life. I realized that the CrossFit community was one that supports each individual no matter what their fitness level. I fell in love with the sport, with the people, and the journey.
What’s your favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite post workout food?
My favorite lift is the Split Jerk. I can’t think of anything else that makes you feel more powerful and capable than thrusting a weighted barbell overhead. Perhaps it just excites the inner Amazonian in me. J My favorite post-work out food is a home-made smoothie with berries, walnuts, ground flax, and almond milk. Its so simple, yet so delicious.
What’s your least favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite cheat meal?
I have been known to sleep-in on Thruster days. Lets just say Thrusters are not my favorite activity. As for a favorite cheat meal, I have a thing for really nice vanilla ice cream with homemade brownies.
What is your next goal? i.e. doubles, pull ups, weight loss, body fat%, come more etc.
My immediate goal is to continue CrossFitting three days per week while I study for my national boards. After that, my goal is to find an awesome CrossFit Gym in Bend, Oregon, where I will be living for the next year. Any recommendations anyone???
Lastly, I just wanted to say THANK YOU to everyone at the gym. You all are an inspiration and it has been a pleasure to train with you.
ANOTHER super awesome student we have to say goodbye to!!! Katie came from CF Train and already was a bad ass. We had the pleasure to watch her name fill up the PR board month after month. She always has a great attitude, is one of the few students who would WOD on test days, and is an easy athlete to coach. She never shies away from a challenge I'd put in front of her when finding weight for a workout or attempting a PR on a lift. It is with great sadness we have to see her go but know that she is headed to bigger and brighter things and I'm sure she'll probably find a box to join when she settles down. We will miss you dearly!
