How long have you been doing CrossFit and what was your reason for joining?
Answer: I joined CrossFit from the encouragement of my good friend Brian Tucker. He kept telling me how fun it was and that he was in the best shape of his life at 40. I could tell he “Drank the Kool-Aid” (to be honest it sounded a little cult like) and actually of all the stories I heard I was scared to death to come. But I was 42 and besides playing some softball I hadn’t done any real physical activity/sports for probably 20 years. So I knew that I needed to get myself into shape so in May 2014 I decided to give it a try. I came for a month and then I took a break for a month. I was thinking “what the hell did I get myself into here”. The reality is, I was so out of shape I just thought I was hurting myself vs making progress .
At the end of June I reached out to Andrew and explained my concerns, we discussed a new game plan that included working out smart (listening to my body) and developing a good eating plan. If it wasn’t for Andrew I probably would have quit all together, but with his help and encouragement I have been coming to the box consistently for the WOD’s and then have added in the Monday/Wednesday Weightlifting classes as well.
What is your favorite Workout and Post Workout Food?
Answer: I like EMOM style workouts, most anything that involves lifting weights, plus the partner workouts. Favorite post-work out food: since I typically workout at 5am is breakfast so either 3 eggs and sausage or a high protein Shake
What is your Least Favorite Workout and go to Cheat Food?
Answer: Workouts with Running/Jump Rope. Cheat meal is Ciddiccis Pizza & Beer
What are some of your next Goals?
Answer: Since I started I have lost over 20lbs (plus have gained a lot of muscle & strength) and still have more body fat I would like to lose. Again I like weights and I have noticed the stronger I get the better I do in the WOD’s, so I hope to add an additional 20 lbs to my 1 RM on all the lifts in the next couple months. My 3 main movements goals are 10 Doubles, Mile run without stopping & 10 Pull Ups
Lastly I want to thank Andrew and Andrea for all that they do at the box. It is rare that you see trainers that care about people as they do. I am happy to say I am a proud member of CFPV!
