How long have you done CrossFit and what was your reason for joining?
I started CrossFit about a year ago. I had spent time in traditional gyms with little results, mostly because I didn't know what I was doing. Beth and I started our journey under Andrews supervision at the gym down the street and we made the jump to CFPV when they opened. The reason for joining? I didn't have a choice. My wife told me it was time. The XL shirts were starting to get a little snug. I can now wear a Med. shirt and the weight has stayed off(for the most part).
What’s your favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite post workout food?My favorite would have to be the Back squat. I also like trying to set a new max height on box jumps. My favorite post food would be eggs, spinach, tomatoes, and mushroom scramble. With bacon of course.
What’s your least favorite workout (Movement/Lift/Benchmark etc.) and favorite cheat meal?
My least favorite would have to be any type of lunges. Walking, jumping, reverse; oh, not a fan of burpees either. Favorite cheat meal.....everything! I have a weakness for chocolate donuts.
What is your next goal? i.e. doubles, pull ups, weight loss, body fat%, come more etc.
My short term goal is to get the doubles, run more, and just be better. My long term goal is to drop a few more pounds and keep it off. And at least one freaking muscle up.
We have had the pleasure of knowing Jon before CrossFit Power Valley started. Our kids have played sports together and have been in the same classroom for years so we know how far he's come in his fitness journey. This guy is strong, with a capital S! Not a day goes by where I look at the board and think, whoa, he lifted that? Jon works hard and really tries to get the movements down so his form looks good and is efficient. He always has a great attitude, is smiling and encourages others to finish when he's done. When I first met Jon I never would have though he'd take to CrossFit like he has, but he now leads his family in health and even has some young aspiring American Ninja Warriors in his home. I've enjoyed seeing him start doing 5k's, Fun Runs and Dirty Dashes. He's completely changed his life; if you don't see him at the gym then you'll probably see him running down Pacific or riding his bike to work. Keep it up Jon! You're killing it...
