Nutrition is far way more important than exercise! Yes, I said it. If I had the choice of eating healthy foods for the rest of my life or exercising, it would be hard, but knowing what I do, I'd have to choose eating healthy foods. Now this is why...
You can't outwork a bad diet, plain and simple. You can exercise until you're blue in the face (and many times we do in class) and if you just leave and eat shitty food, you'll NEVER see the results you're out for. Nutrition affects more than just how we look, we're talking about overall health, early death and disease. Now we can all agree that CrossFit is hard and challenging and fun, right? We have the exercise part down for the most part, you're showing up 3-5 times a week but it's time to take it to the next level. Now when we exert ourselves as we do in class and don't refuel our bodies with good foods that create an environment for healing and restoration, we our essentially spinning our wheels. You will work out just to eat crappy food and you'll keep the same body composition which is where FAT>MUSCLE... We Want FAT<MUSCLE!!!
How do we make that happen???
Well we need to how many calories you burn a day/ how much you exert yourself. That is where we start, how many times are you coming to class, do you do other stuff outside of CF, do sit all day at your job, are you a lumberjack etc??? Then we need to know how many calories you get a day, how often, from what sources etc???
This gives us a snapshot of what's going on, things your doing well AND things we can work on. NOW, depending on your goals we would figure out what changes needed to made to support your ideal lifestyle and help you get to where you want to be.
